SAI TEMPLE TEXT ~ THE PURPOSE OF LIFE

We are in the midst of Diwali celebrations a beautiful Indian festival that literally means triumph of light over darkness, good over evil.
Dear Ones, we can never be fully content, completely satisfied and happy until we begin our spiritual journey in earnest.
In life we will face some tough challenges, hardships and lessons as well as joyful events, celebrations and successful achievements.
All these experiences eventually lead us to question the nature of our existence.
We may ponder Universal questions like who am I? where am I going? What is my purpose?
As we contemplate these very profound thoughts the universal self, God responds and gently guides us to the answers.
I would like to share an experience I had recently that clarifies the pure purpose of life.
One morning in the very early hours. I was restless, and the words "What is the purpose of Life?" kept ringing over and over in my head. I thought to myself, "The purpose of life is learn to love, to know who you are, that you are divine." Then later on in the day I had a strong desire to listen to some Sathya Sai Baba discourses. As I was listening to one particular, random discourse, suddenly Swami says, "What is the purpose of life?" I jumped up surprised and elated at this continuation of my earlier reflection.
Swami says that we want this and that all worldly things and desires. But that the true purpose of life is gaining proximity to the Divine. And we can do this by following the nine step path of devotion. Friendship with God is the step right before complete surrender. Totally amazing, Swami is totally amazing.
He refreshed in my mind the nine step path of devotion how important it is and all the steps leading to union with Him, with God.
