SAI BABA PRANAM
DIVINE DOCTOR BABA
Millions and trillions of Pranams at the thousand petaled Lotus Feet of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. His Leelas are marvelous and wondrous. His blessings gush forth like vibhuti, sacred ash from an endless heavenly urn.
I would like to share an incredible Sai leela with you:
In the late 90s I injured my neck while performing repetitive lifting at my job. I was 6 years away from retirement and was greatly relieved when they assigned me to light duty as a result.
During this time Swami came in a dream and told me, "NO OPERATION, NO PAIN."
So I listened to His instruction and didn't pursue anything having to do with surgery. Instead, treated the injury conservatively with physical therapy etc.
This past year I aggravated the injury which caused quite a few flare-ups, considerable pain, muscle tightness, inflammation, vertigo, confusion and distress. My doctor kept suggesting surgery this added to my mental anguish because I wanted to follow Swami's instructions.
Meanwhile, one of my husband's students who had also suffered a neck injury, recommended a good pain management specialist doctor. But, then adding fuel to fire she made it clear that she had gotten great relief from neck surgery. My husband, David receptive to her recommendation felt I should at least hear what her surgeon had to say about my neck condition.
Needless to say, I was very upset at this turn of events. I said to Swami, "This is your leela, please help me to go through whatever has to happen."
My husband got the name of the neurosurgeon and I almost fell off of my chair. His name was Doctor Paine. What are the odds of this happening Swami said: NO OPERATION, NO PAIN."
Even David, my husband was amazed when he heard the name of the doctor, "Are you sure it's Dr. Paine?" He asked his student. She said "Yes," and spelled it out "P-a-i-n-e!"
Anyway, I made an appointment with the pain specialist doctor and the neurosurgeon.
When we went to see the pain management specialist he examined my new MRI and ask me quite a few questions. For some reason all these years I thought I had a herniated disc but according to the pain management specialist doctor I had a bulging disc not a herniated disc. He also stressed that a bulging disc should not be operated on because in many instances it can make the neck condition worse.
Ahhhh blessed words cascading from the lips of heaven!
He gave several recommendations and assured me of his help. This Doctor also shared a very intimate account of a near death experience he had some years ago.
I felt like several tons of weight had been lifted off me. Swami always to the rescue. I am continuing to progress gradually with the healing guidance of Bhagavan Baba. I am finding a daily practice of the Jyoti (Light) meditation which Swami has given us invaluable for keeping the mind calm and focused on Him. Also, daily sadhana, mantras, deep breathing, prayers, seva and bhajans keep me in sweet communication with our Beloved Baba.
Intrinsically, these painful experiences we undergo are lessons that help us to grow and expand our sense of self, opening our hearts to a deeper unitive connection to God, humanity and all of life.
Swami! Swami! Swami! My heart overflows with profuse Thanks.
Our Divine Dr. Baba knows everything - past, present, and future. He is the Great Comforter. We are so blessed to be a part of His unfolding splendor.
Lots of Prema,
Sonya Ki
