Dear Friends,
Today we'd like to introduce you to two of our favorite friends - Jack & Geraldine.
Jack is a Impish Scamp who creates conflict and chaos wherever he goes, while
Geraldine is a Big-Hearted Lady who shows love and compassion to one and all.
Jack the Jackal and Geraldine the Giraffe
Giraffe and Jackal Consciousness refer to two kinds of thinking, speaking and listening
and should not be mistaken as labels for two kinds of people. Giraffe is a language of respect and compassion, while Jackal is a language of judgment and blame. Most of us use both Giraffe & Jackal thinking & speaking each and every day.
The Giraffe was chosen as a symbol of compassion because of her large heart (26 pounds) &
her long neck, which allows her to see the long-range consequences of her words and actions. Jackal, on the other hand, walks low to the ground and is only concerned with his own selfish needs. His favorite pastimes are judging, blaming, fault-finding and making demands.
Remember Your Intention
"Words matter. However, Intention is still 90% of communication. Without a clear and conscious Intention to connect, even the most skillfully crafted expression can be heard as hollow or manipulative. Remember that the sole Intenion of Giraffe Language is to make a heartfelt connection with oneself and with others - - and to respect and care for everyone's needs." From Respectful Parents, Respectful Kids, p. 94.
We're all susceptible to Jackal thinking & speaking. The good news is that we can all learn a
new way of thinking and speaking, which allows us to show respect and connect with others.
Which way of thinking and speaking do you prefer - Giraffe or Jackal?
With Love,
David & Sonya ki
