Chakra Bath
Om Jai Sai Ram
In the book Sadhana the Inward Path, which is literally my Sai Bible, Lord Sai states:
"Those affected with barreness or serious illness or skin diseases or virulent types vow to proceed on pilgrimage to shrines of Subrahmanya (conceived in the form of a Snake). The spinal column of man ending with the 'thousand petalled lotus' in the brain is very much like a serpent poised on its tail with the head widely spread.
In the science of Kundalini Yoga, the vital energy of man lying dormant like a coiled snake, at the bottom of this column in the lowest Muladhara Chakra, the Basic Wheel, is awakened and aroused, so that it courses up through six more wheels (Centres of superior consciousness) until it reaches the sahasrara or Thousand - Petalled Lotus Wheel at the very top of the skull. The passage for the Kundalini is through the Sushumma Nerve in the centre of the spinal column. The worship of the Snake, ridiculed as superstition, is the symbolic counterpart of this great Yogic Sadhana which confers vigour and vitality.
Take the demarcation of Tirupathi as a holy place of Pilgrimage. Lord Venkateshwara, the Deity worshipped there is called the Lord of the Seven Hills, for Seven Hills have to be climbed before the Temple is reached. Obviously, the Six Chakras and the Sahasrara are indicated here; for in Raja Yoga, the supreme is revealed, only when the individual raises the vital energy - the Kundalini Sakthi, up to the Seventh Stage. One of the hills is named Seshagiri, meaning snake hill. From the plain, the range gives the appearance of a snake with a raised hood.
And what exactly does Subrahmanya mean? It means, He who has attained the realisation of Brahma, the Universal Absolute, The Primal Cause, The Cosmic Consciousness." ~Sai Baba

THE SEVEN CHAKRAS
Chakras are wheels of Energy or Light located along and in front of the spine. Life is energy. The energy that suffuses the universe as the macrocosm also circulates through us as the microcosm or little universe. Chakras are whirling centers of energy within us that store and transmit cosmic energy.
When these Chakras are open, flowing and balanced we experience a state of harmony, good health and happiness on all levels. Conversely any blocks in the Chakras can manifest as ill health, disease and disharmony in the body, mind and spirit.
There are a number of ways to clear blocked Chakras: Strong Desire, Clear Intention, Love & Forgiveness, Prayer, Sound, Massage, Dowsing, Yoga, Reflexology, Astrology, Reiki, Meditation, Visualization, Toning & Chanting, Healthy Diet & Exercise, Tuning Forks, Music, Crystals & Gemstones, Aromatherapy, Flower Essences, Oils, Perfumes, Incense, Color, Affirmations, Spiritual Counseling, Regression, Introspection, and Journaling.
FIRST CHAKRA: Muladhara. Root Chakra. Location: base of spine. Cleansing Bija mantra: LAM, pronounced: LUM. Color Red. Element: Earth. Associated body parts: anus, coccyx, large intestine, adrenal glands, back, legs, feet, and bones. Concerned with: survival, safety, shelter, groundedness, nourishment, self-esteem, trust, boundaries and physical health. Imbalance in the root chakra manifests as: fear for survival, mistrust of others, isolation, abandonment. These emotions block the ability to secure basic necessities. There may also be an obsession with material wealth and a feeling that there is never enough. Emotional issues include: fear, anxiety, insecurity, vulnerability, worry, grief, depression, self-centeredness, disconnection, numbness, distrust, low self-esteem, greed. Physical issues: lower back pain, sciatica, obesity, anorexia, constipation, hemorrhoids, prostate problems, varicose veins. Common addictions: food, alcohol, sex.
Root Chakra Healing:
When the Root Chakra is balanced, the vital connection to life is strong and supported. Our foundation is secure. We feel safe, grounded, alive, and peaceful. A strong sense of belonging prevails; we can form connections to others and trust in them.Try this root chakra healing exercise: Sit on the ground, preferably outside in natural surroundings. Visualize your spine extending downward, deep into the ground. Now, visualize a nearby tree. Picture your spine growing roots which intermingle with the roots of the tree. Once you’ve cemented this visualization, begin to focus on your excess mental energy. Simply acknowledge it without judgment or getting swept up in your own inner-dialogue. Channel that energy down your spine where it dissipates into the earth. Also, imagine that you can draw positive energy from the tree roots, back up through your spine and into your body. Any physical activity (yoga, walking, hiking, running, biking); Communing with nature by spending time in a park or gardening; Thrill-seeking activities such as amusement park rides, sky-diving, bungee-jumping, etc. (with adequate safety measures in place); Hold or wear red gemstones such as garnet, ruby, tourmaline.
SECOND CHAKRA: Svadisthana. Sacral Chakra. Location: lower abdomen, lower back, sexual organs. Cleansing Bija mantra: VAM, pronounced:VUM. Color Orange. Element: Water. Associated body parts: hips, lower back, sexual organs, bladder, kidneys, stomach, bodily fluids, (tears, urine, blood, menstrual fluids). Concerned with: pleasure, sexuality, sensuality, emotions, intimacy, warmth, creativity, confidence. Imbalance in the Sacral Chakra manifests as: aversion to change and emotional repression. Sexual dysfunction and a fear of intimacy may be present; guilty feelings too, particularly about the activities that would normally give one pleasure. Physical and emotional issues: frigidity or impotence, lower backaches, kidney, bladder or urinary problems, gynecological problems. Common addictions include sex, work, relationships and sugar.
Sacral Chakra Healing:
Life is so much more enjoyable when lived from the second chakra perspective. Deriving enjoyment from pleasurable activities without guilt is our God-given right. A balanced Sacral Chakra enables us to feel life more fully, form strong connections to others and express healthy emotions. Try these sacral chakra balancing techniques:Gentle yoga. Make an appointment for a body massage (or offer to “trade” with your partner) Listen to your favorite musicA warm bath (add bubbles, candles and your favorite music). Hold or wear moonstone, orange tourmaline or tiger eye gemstones.
THIRD CHAKRA: Manipura. Solar Plexus. Location: abdomen. Cleansing Bija mantra: RAM, pronounced:RUM. Color Yellow. Element: Fire. Associated body parts: stomach, liver, gallbladder, spleen, adrenal glands. Concerned with: ego, self-esteem, vitality, forcefulness, perception, insight, will, discipline. Imbalance in the Solar Plexus Chakra manifests as: low self-esteem and indecision. Inaction or slow action in decision making. Overly critical and hypersensitive to criticism. On the reverse side can be overly dominant and always right. Often feels unfairly treated and fights for vindication. Constant undercurrent of anger. Perfectionist and fear of rejection. Apathetic and resentful. Solar Plexus Chakra issues: digestive problems, food allergies, diabetes, ulcers, liver problems, jaundice, hepatitis, gallstones, adrenal imbalances and arthritis. Common addictions are sugar, caffeine, food, and compulsive cleaning.
Balancing the Solar Plexus Chakra:
A balanced Solar Plexus Chakra brings a strong sense of identity and healthy self-respect. We have the energy and confidence to pursue our ideas and follow tasks through to completion. We don’t feel threatened by opposition; instead, we are calm and receptive, and willing to work towards a solution that benefits all involved.
The next time you find yourself in a power conflict, stop for a second and ask yourself “Am I really being threatened?” If the answer is no, ask yourself “Do I really care about the outcome?” If the answer is “Yes” to either of these questions, then this issue is certainly yours to battle and you should do so honorably. However, if you are not truly threatened and don’t care about the outcome, expending negative energy trying to change the outcome would not be worthwhile.
Other third chakra balancing techniques include:Vigorous exercises including power yoga, aerobics, swimming, power walking, biking; Holding or wearing citrine, jasper, topaz gemstones. When you feel you need a push or need to stop incessant negative chatter in your mind, visualize the third chakra and breathe deeply into your solar plexus.
FOURTH CHAKRA: Anahata. Heart. Location: center of chest. Cleansing Bija mantra: YAM, pronounced: YUM. Color: Green/Pink. Element: Air. Associated body parts: heart, lungs, diaphragm, chest, thymus, circulatory system, shoulders, arms, hands. Concerned with: love, compassion, kindness, relationships, self-acceptance, forgiveness, hope, sympathy, empathy. Imbalance in the Heart Chakra manifests as: Fear of being hurt by others. Paranoia. Self-pity, indecision. Unworthy for Love.
Heart Chakra issues: cardiovascular problems, hypertension, stroke, respiratory ailments, upper back and shoulder problems or arthritis. Emotional or mental issues like resentment, possessiveness, emotional insensitivity, sorrow or depression may arise. Common addictions include nicotine and marijuana.
Tips for Opening Heart Chakra
Doing things for others is one of the best activities for opening heart chakra. For now, let’s focus on your partner or spouse. Make the favorite dinner or slip a note into the lunch. Buy that sweater, not because of a birthday or holiday, but simply because you thought that particular shade of blue would look terrific on your partner. Make some kind of gesture on a regular basis, perhaps monthly or even weekly. This requires planning and effort, but you need to make the time. (Even President and Michelle Obama have weekly date nights!)
Not only will you open your own heart chakra, but you’ll open the door for your partner to do the same, resulting in a free-flow of love. Other activities for opening heart chakra include:
Seeking inspiration in books, poetry or romantic movies Volunteering your time for a charity or cause about which you are passionate Wearing gemstones emerald, rose quartz, ruby
FIFTH CHAKRA: Vishuddha. Throat. Location: throat, neck. Cleansing Bija mantra: HAM, pronounced HUM. Color: Turquoise. Element: Ether. Associated body parts:. throat, neck, ears, jaw, mouth, teeth, gums, tongue, thyroid gland. Concerned with: communication, creativity, honesty, expression, humility, manifesting ideas. Imbalance in the Throat Chakra manifests as: inability to communicate or convey emotions, and also feelings of stagnation. We may feel like we’re not being heard or unable to make others understand us. We may also feel frustrated as a result of not finding the right words to express emotions, or have a fear of speaking. The inability to verbalize our true feelings can manifest in timidity, shyness, dishonesty and low self-esteem.
Throat Chakra healing techniques include:
Singing, chanting or reciting poetry. Maintaining a journal, painting or drawing. Dancing, drumming Holding gemstones or wearing chakra jewelry of aquamarine, blue opal or carnelian. Focusing attention on the breath: see what you can do to deepen it and slow it down. Notice how your anxiety dissipates and you become filled with a sense of calm alertness.

Brow Chakra issues: headaches, sinusitis, brain tumors, stroke, blindness, vision problems, learning disabilities, anxiety disorder and recurring nightmares. Common addictions: shopping, possessiveness or even cultish behaviors might be present. Third Eye Chakra Balancing Techniques:
When the Third Eye Chakra is balanced, we feel intellectually at the top of our game. Our imagination soars, and we are in tune with our intuitive powers of reasoning. We are able to positively and realistically perceive and visualize the future. Because this chakra allows us to see beyond the material world, our psychic and telepathic abilities may be enlightened.
Beneficial activities that promote and maintain a balanced Third Eye Chakra: Keeping a dream journalConscious awareness of coincidences and serendipitous occurrence. Listening to inspirational speakers (in person or recorded). Reading material that fills you with faith and vision. Atheism or religious fanaticism. Crown Chakra issues: cranial and cerebral illnesses; diseases of the musculoskeletal system; skin problems; chronic exhaustion; hypersensitivity to light, sound, and environment. Mind- altering drugs and material acquisitiveness are common addictions. Crown Chakra Balancing Techniques: When the Crown Chakra is balanced, you will experience a profound awakening: like the lotus blossom when it opens. You feel completely connected to your innate spiritual nature, and to divine or cosmic consciousness. The knowledge that higher powers prevail brings assurance that you are fulfilling your true destiny. This assurance often creates a sense of bliss. Activities that promote and maintain Crown Chakra include: Silent meditation, chanting, conscious breathing. If you are desperate, try to completely let go, allow divinity to intervene and fate to take its course. You have nothing to lose, but stand to gain significantly. Holding or wearing black opals, diamonds, quartz crystals or sunstone.
